Updated Snow Map and a Look at Next Week's Snow

I updated the snow map and really have nothing more to add. It's the combination of the arctic front and storm rolling across the East and intensifying along the coast. Of note, when the arctic front plows east, expect a burst of snow all the way to the coast which could cause sudden icing on the roads.

What I do find amazing, the NAO does go negative for a time, and like clockwork, we get a coastal storm. To me, it's probably the best indicator for snow in the Northeast and mid-Atlantic.

Next week, another area of light snow will move across the East. This will be a rather large area of snow with coatings to 3 inches common through the area.

The end run of winter should be fun for many of the snow lovers out there. The SOI is way down again which I will continue to say the La Nina is weakening. Even if you read the weekly ENSO on the CPC site report and read between the lines, they are even saying the La Nina is weakening and an El Nina may be starting to form. If that is so, we have huge issues for the summer and fall forecasts in regards to the temperatures and distribution of rain.
