Tropics Quiet... Severe Storms in Odd Places

September 3, 2013; 10:06 AM ET

1. The tropics will remain quiet for several more days despite some areas of convection. The area off the eastern Yucatan seems to be the place to watch for any development. If anything does develop, it will head west across the Yucatan Peninsula and into Mexico.

2. Severe weather will develop in an odd location Wednesday and Thursday. We don't see severe weather in the area shown on the map all that often, especially in September.
