Tropical Low Enhances Rain Across the South to Tennessee Valley

July 3, 2013; 8:45 AM ET

Commentary

Low pressure in the Gulf of Mexico has a slight chance of becoming a tropical depression at the last second before making landfall near Mobile Bay. It's really up to the NHC boys to make the decision on whether it will be a tropical depression or not. In any case, the system will enhance rainfall across parts of Alabama, Georgia and the Florida Panhandle up to Tennessee and Kentucky the next couple of days. The main impact will be flash flooding.

As the upper-level trough finally moves out over the weekend, we may see enhanced rainfall moving across the eastern Ohio Valley into the northern Appalachians.
