1. The Southern storm will come farther north and therefore, pulled the stops out to bring snow all the way into D.C. and the Delmarva Peninsula. Also, as the upper-level system goes through the Carolinas the rain will change over to snow. In some places the snow will drop several inches in a few hours. I can see snow rates of 1-2 inches per hour from eastern Tennessee through North Carolina as the upper-level low comes through.
2. The cold will continue to come East and the next shot of very cold air will come across the Great Lakes and Northeast this weekend. Given everything I see, it will just waves of cold weather with miner mild spells in-between coming through these areas right into February.
3. Around the 23th-24th, there could be some East Coast excitement as a clipper dives in and tries to intensify off Long Island. Models don't pick this up very well, but I can see how New England down to New Jersey could get some snow around that time.
It's a pattern of warm weather coming up for the next two weeks.
Front-ended snow will continue across the Northeast today.
A nasty storm will cross the Midwest and will bring snow and even some severe storms to the Northeast.
A storm will streak across the country producing heavy rains in the Midwest followed by snow across the Northeast.
