Snowstorm and Severe Weather. Longer Range Big Daddy

Category 4 Snowstorm!

Comment on the Longer Ranger. The maps below show what I believe will happen with the storm coming up. As for the longer range, the GFS had my storm on the 12z run yesterday but back away from it today. However, it still has the big trough coming into the eastern part of the country. On the other hand, the Euro has a massive warm-up at the same time the GFS has it very cold. What a difference in models. Temp-wise, it's about a 30-degree difference between the two models. While the NAO does not just yet support a big East Coast storm, I remain on the bandwagon that something will brew around midmonth based on historical patterns similar to what we are currently in. The SOI values remain down and that may be just enough to kick the blocking into gear. Also, the Euro cold wave always finds a way to make it into the eastern part of the country. That is, when it's very cold in Europe it will eventually get cold over here.
