Here's the latest map for the Groundhog Blizzard.
1. As for storms, this will be the most widespread so far this year. It will be a blizzard in the Midwest and Plains where amounts will be over a foot with winds gusting over 40 mph and temps in the teens.
2. The ice will be very bad across the Ohio Valley into southern Pennsylvania. That area could get up to an inch of ice and power outages.
3. The interior Northeast will have its biggest snowfall this year with with over a foot in many places. The areas hit by snow in Connecticut and New Jersey will have mainly snow and sleet accumulation.
4. There are two more snowstorms coming... one this weekend and one next week. I have not looked at them yet, but they are there on the models.
Track of tropical system critical for development, but South Florida could be threatened first.
A new tropical system may be a threat to southern Florida late in the weekend and early next week.
The tropics will produce a storm that could impact the United States coast.
A cold front will be led by severe storms all the way to the Northeast this weekend. Tropics could produce a big storm.
A cold front coming east will produce several days of several weather. Tropics could get active next week as a big high comes down.
A cold front that will bring a change to nicer weather will also produce severe storms in the Plains first Thursday and Friday then eventually in the East this weekend.
