Here's the latest map for the Groundhog Blizzard.
1. As for storms, this will be the most widespread so far this year. It will be a blizzard in the Midwest and Plains where amounts will be over a foot with winds gusting over 40 mph and temps in the teens.
2. The ice will be very bad across the Ohio Valley into southern Pennsylvania. That area could get up to an inch of ice and power outages.
3. The interior Northeast will have its biggest snowfall this year with with over a foot in many places. The areas hit by snow in Connecticut and New Jersey will have mainly snow and sleet accumulation.
4. There are two more snowstorms coming... one this weekend and one next week. I have not looked at them yet, but they are there on the models.
The weather will be severe across the Plains this weekend as thunderstorms with hail, damaging winds, tornadoes and flooding rains develop.
Severe storms will develop across the eastern Carolina's today. Active severe weather pattern in the Plains this weekend.
Pattern continues to produce storms across Texas and the High Plains into the Holiday weekend. Eastern Carolina's get hit Thursday.
High Plains get hit again with heavy rains, severe storms and even snow. The weather should calm down later tomorrow.
Severe weather coverage will be less this week but still active across western Texas.
The pattern has not changed much and that means the severe weather will hit the Plains this weekend.
