Severe Weather Today and Especially Tomorrow. TD Forming!

September 06, 2012; 9:33 AM

Commentary

The system in the Gulf has the chance of becoming a tropical depression the next couple of days with an outside chance it can spin into a tropical storm. In any case, it will end up going across northern Florida as a big rain maker.

The big story with the severe storms develop ahead of the powerful cold front coming. Storms will form in the Plains today then the Midwest and Mississippi Valley Friday. Wind damage and hail will be the main impacts although a few tornadoes are possible.

Leslie is still on track to hit Atlantic Canada Monday into Tuesday as a Category 1 Hurricane. Looks like Newfoundland will take the hardest hit by Leslie.
