Severe Storms Hit Oklahoma and Spread East. Beryl Heads Out to Sea

1. Beryl is still hanging in there and moving along the North Carolina coast today. Beryl will most likely become a tropical storm again as she races out to sea. In the meantime, eastern North Carolina and southeast Virginia will be hit by heavy rains and flooding today. Some places will pick up 3-6 inches of rain the next 12 hours.

2. Severe storms including tornadoes, hail and damaging winds will hit Oklahoma today. I posted a Youtube video showing a hail storm Lawton, Okla., just to give you an idea of the type of storm that will hit there today. The severe weather will spread into the Mississippi and Tennessee valleys tomorrow and eventually into the East on Friday. Today is the tornado threat day but after that it becomes more of a damaging wind and hail event along the cold front.

3. Speaking of cold fronts, the upper low that settles into the Great Lakes and Northeast this weekend and early next week will have daily thunderstorms developing under it during the afternoon. Some of the storms can produce gusty winds and small hail.
