Severe Storms and Flooding Heading into the East

June 27, 2013; 10:03 AM ET

1. The severe weather will be centered over two areas with some blotchy areas of severe weather across the Great Lakes. I am concerned more about flash flooding across parts of Pennsylvania into Maryland and New York. These areas could see up to 3-5 inches of rain today. The severe storms that do develop can produce damaging winds.

2. In Kansas, a line of storms may develop and produce wind damage this afternoon and evening.

3. The longer-range pattern through next week looks wet with daily storms, some which will produce flash flooding rains. The concern remains for flooding through next week.

4. On a side note, upslope flow may develop next week and that could lead to flooding problems across eastern Colorado.
