Lowest Number of Tornadoes in Two Decades

    May 13, 2013; 10:15 AM ET

    1. We hit the lowest number of tornadoes in two decades as of today. The next years to beat are 1992, 1989 and 1988 which were all low years for tornadoes. I do think things will change, especially this weekend when the first negative tilted trough comes into the Plains and Midwest. I think would could see the first major tornado outbreak of the season given the conditions that are setting up.

    2. Severe weather today will be in Montana and Idaho of all places. That area will see hail and damaging wind gusts. Other storms will develop along the cold front across the Great Lakes Tuesday and into the Appalachians Wednesday.
