Light Snow Scoots across the Country. Stormier Next Week!

The snow in the Plains will streak east tonight and Wednesday. While this is not a big storm, it's actually our only snow event until Saturday. The snow that is coming across will be on the light side with coatings to an inch in most places. The mountains of southwestern Pennsylvania into West Virginia will get up to 3 inches of snow.

Friday/Saturday, an arctic front will plow across the Great Lakes into the Northeast to produce a band of snow showers that could go as far south as Kentucky and Virginia. The Euro wants to make more of storm out of that system which I can see happening. I just would like to see a more negative NAO before I get too excited for a storm developing along the coast.

The longer-range message is stormy. I see this morning's NAO is trending to 0 which is a good sign. The MJO is going Phase 8 which is another good sign. So the end game of winter may be more exciting then the first two-thirds of winter.
