Leslie to Hit Newfoundland...Big Storms in the Southwest

September 10, 2012; 8:03 AM ET

Commentary

Leslie does not look all the great on satellite this morning. Dry air has entrained into the storm, but its still holding the tropical storm status. Leslie will hit Newfoundland early Tuesday with tropical storm conditions. For those folks, it will be like a powerful winter storm that that are use to getting.

Storms in the Southwest can produce damaging wind gusts and flash flooding rains today and Tuesday. This could be the last push of the Southwest Monsoon before the pattern changes for that part of the country. Looks like a drier weather pattern will develop next week as the ridge builds in.
