1. I updated the map for the snowstorm which will be historic for the Midwest. As of this morning, a narrow band of heavy snow was hitting parts of southeastern South Dakota and northwestern Iowa with rates of 1" per hour. To me, this is an amazing storm and could be the historic event of the year.
2. The second issue with the storm will be the heavy rain developing across the Mississippi Valley Thursday and Friday. Some areas will pick up over 2 inches of rain which will cause more flooding problems, and in some cases, a dangerous situation.
3. Severe weather will be minimal across western Texas. Storms that develop ahead of the front will produce large hail and damaging winds.
Matthew will remain a major hurricane and impact the Caribbean.
Stalled upper-level storm will bring more rain, some heavy at times.
Upper-level storm will bring heavy rains to the mid-Atlantic.
An upper low will dive into the Ohio Valley producing an area of heavy rain.
A front settles down into Texas and causes heavy rains.
