Latest on Sunday's Severe Weather Outbreak

August 29, 2014; 9:26 AM ET

As mentioned yesterday, Sunday will be the active day for severe weather and the potential for significant damaging winds and tornadoes.

We will see an initial outbreak of severe weather Saturday afternoon across the western Dakotas. That area could get damaging winds and large hail.

The big outbreak will happen Sunday afternoon into Sunday night as shown on the map. The storms may produce winds over 70 mph, large hail up to baseball size and a few large tornadoes. I remain impressed that this will be our biggest outbreak in weeks across the Midwest.
