I Am Dusting Off the Big Daddy Hat for Next Week

Aug 18, 2010; 7:26 AM ET

TROPICS HEAT UP NEXT WEEK AND EAST COAST FIRST THREAT ZONE....

Since last week I have said that when the GFS model starts to showing hurricanes coming it's an indication that the model is picking up on the fact the tropics will become more active. While exact paths of any one storm should be used with a grain of salt right now, I think the fact the models continues to show the front running storm approaching the East Coast should not be taken lightly. The 00z run of the GFS model shown below was the scariest with the storm moving up over Long Island. That's probably a long shot but for me it means the Big Daddy might have to come out of the summer hibernation. Oh Boy!

So my points are....

1. Tropics are going to get active staring next week.

2. Folks along the East Coast need to pay attention to the weather.

3. Another hurricane follows behind that one for the week prior to Labor Day weekend.
