1. I know the tropics for the most part have been quiet and we expected by now storms would be going, but I think that time is coming soon. It would appear that after Labor Day the tropics will become more active, and the GFS says around Sept. 10 we need to be watching the Southeast coastal area. We do have an upper-level low south of Florida this morning and somethings these systems can sneak up on you and develop.
2. The severe weather map shows the area of concern for today. Keep in mind, the storms will be locally severe with damaging wind gusts and flash-flooding rains. Not a big event for this time of the year.
Upper-level storm will bring heavy rains to the mid-Atlantic.
An upper low will dive into the Ohio Valley producing an area of heavy rain.
A front settles down into Texas and causes heavy rains.
