Earl Hits the East Coast Thursday and Friday; Fiona to Follow!
Aug 29, 2010; 6:43 AM ET
Boy, do we have a big week coming! As I said on Friday, the East Coast can't dodge the bullet of storms for very long, and now it appears that Earl will be the first threat on Thursday and Friday. Below is my window of movement for Earl. In the worst case, Earl goes into the Carolinas, then right up over Philly and New York. In the second case, New England and Long Island get a direct hit. In the best case, Earl stays off the coast, and it's just a windy, rainy day along the coast. However, in any case, we have a major storm threatening the East Coast prior to Labor Day weekend.
Euro model has been persistent in taking Fiona into Florida. While I have to admit I have not studied Fiona closely enough, I think it's not out of the question that we are dealing with a second blow to the United States five days after Earl.
