IT COULD BE A TORNADO DAY INTO THE MIDWEST AND OHIO VALLEY...
1. Fast west-to-east flow will continue today but the jet stream will buckle across the Midwest later this evening, and that's going to produce severe storms.
2. The mesoscale convective system this morning should move southeast and weaken. Shortwave trough over Montana this morning will dig southeast into the Midwest by evening. Storms should develop over Iowa and Illinois later today and move east tonight. The batch of storms may produce tornadoes and damaging wind gusts along the front from Iowa to Indiana.
3. Storms will also develop during the afternoon heating from Ohio to Virginia. That area will see wind and hail threats.
