Snowfall Updates

Jan 19, 2012; 1:35 PM ET

I did not have a chance to draw up a map for southeastern Newfoundland, but we have a potent, fast-moving storm coming through later tonight into Friday morning. The storm will track just off the southeast coast by early Friday and thus we may see a change to sleet or rain for a time from Cape Broyle to Cape Race, NL, but for most this will be all snow. Here are some snowfall predictions....

St. John's 12-22 cm

Harbour Grace 12-22 cm

Placentia 10-18 cm

Bonavista 10-20 cm

Arnold's Cove 8-15 cm

Port Blanford 7-12 cm

Gander 5-8 cm

Cape Race 10-15 cm with some rain possible

-----

The weak clipper storm coming through eastern Canada this evening then into the western Maritimes late tonight will intensify somewhat just off the coast of Maine with a heavier burst of snow from the White Mountains to northern Maine. Looks like a general 2-5 cm for most of the St. Lawrence River Valley.

The map below shows expected snowfall from Thursday night through Friday morning. It does not include snowfall from earlier this morning or afternoon.

Another storm right on its heels....

The storm coming into the lower Great Lakes Friday then the Northeast U.S. later Friday night is looking a little colder, but that will not change the outcome for southeastern Canada with generally light amounts from this fast-mover. See below....

-----

Next storm for eastern Canada coming in late Sunday night into Monday, but with the track well north and west, this will be mostly rain for most of Ontario through southern Quebec, though we may see a brief period of sleet or freezing rain at the start for areas north and northeast of the GTA.
