It's a very hectic day in the office.... I am keeping the graphics on the hurricane up to date and will be on my twitter @BrettAWX with comments through the day.
I will try to keep this blog updated as time allows....
8:00 am EDT.... Sandy has made the turn toward the coast now, and we can now say with very high confidence that the center will indeed make landfall along the New Jersey coast sometime this evening.
8:01 am EDT.... Central pressure down to 942 mb (27.81") which is very low. Computer models are still underestimating the central pressure.
8:02 am EDT.... Clearly, the heaviest rainfall setting up over Maryland, Delaware and southeastern Pennsylvania.
For eastern Canada, I still do not have any significant changes in my thinking from the Saturday evening blog that I wrote.
We have potential severe weather in the East this evening and the potential for heavy rainfall Thursday and Friday for parts of Alberta.
Potential for strong thunderstorms again Wednesday.
The Accuweather.com summer forecast for Canada.
Rainy period for the northern Plains and parts of Manitoba and Ontario this weekend and early next week....
The Spring of 2013 so far has been off to a much different start across Canada compared to last year's Spring.
Here is the latest ECMWF long-range forecast model update.....
