Long-Range Model Forecast Out to February 2011

Aug 19, 2010; 9:40 AM ET

The European (ECMWF) extended long-range monthly forecast was recently released to our in-house system, and the forecast now goes out through February.

This particular forecast model is consistent in forecasting an unusually cold midwinter across western Canada and Alaska, while an active storm track cuts toward the Great Lakes.

Here is my interpretation of what the ECMWF is forecasting in its latest update.

I will be posting my own fall forecast this weekend.
