The storm producing showers through the Midwest will probably strengthen when it reaches the Northeast, leading to a few days of unsettled weather. However, as it moves out, it will be replaced by a ridge that sponsors drier and warmer weather. Last night's European model presented this idea for Memorial Day afternoon. If correct, sunshine will be the rule from D.C. to Boston, and afternoon temperatures could be near 80 degrees.
