Chill to Ease for the Easter Weekend

March 27, 2013; 6:28 AM ET

Wednesday 9 a.m.

In this video, we look at how the upper-air pattern will change to bring a temporary warmup... then more chill.

Persistent flow from eastern Canada will continue through Friday, leading to rather consistent temperatures from one day to the next. Milder air will reach the Northeast for the weekend; cold will return next week.

Note: I will be out of the office from tomorrow until April 10. I will post occasionally.

Then, as the cold front arrives, there may be violent thunderstorms. This map shows the early morning SPC assessment of the severe weather risk on Sunday:

  • Warmth to shrink in stages through early next week

    June 1, 2016; 9:49 AM ET

With the second front, shower activity may be spotty at first as the system comes through Chicago on Saturday but could be wetter and more stormy than the first front by time it reaches the I-95 corridor Sunday.

  • Northeast: Midweek sunshine; Late-week showers

    May 31, 2016; 7:13 AM ET

A pocket of dry air covers most of the area from the Great Lakes to the back edge of the East Coast clouds. This suggests sunshine will be the rule across the Northeast until the next frontal system approaches later in the week.
