FOX 5 Atlanta Headlines

Missing King Cobra found in Ocoee home

The dangerous king cobra that escaped from a home in September has been captured. Neighbors say the snake was found inside a dryer vent inside the garage of a home on Sawdust Circle in Ocoee. Officials say the homeowner called Animal Control who came out and captured the snake. The snake has a microchip which allowed animal control officials to verify it was the owner Mike Kennedy's missing snake. A post on Kennedy's official Facebook page by his wife confirms they have the cobra back in their care. The snake disappeared on September first from its nearby home on North Apopka-Vineland Road. Kennedy reported it missing the next day after searching without any luck. He was cited for failing to immediately report the missing venomous snake and had requested a jury trial Wednesday. According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, Kennedy has the required permits to keep the snake, among other exotic animals. FOX 35 was told the cobra is in rough shape and is being nursed back to health.
