Be prepared for another day of severe heat across the north state. The hot, dry, and sunny conditions will be almost identical to what we had outside yesterday. Valley areas are starting out in the low to mid 60's this morning, and mountain areas have dipped into the low 40's to mid 50's overnight. Afternoon high temperatures are projected to climb into the mid 90's to around 102 degrees in the valley, and mountain areas will end up in the mid 80's to mid 90's later today. Winds are starting out of the North to 10mph, but light winds out of the Southeast are expected for this afternoon.
A very welcome cooling trend is on the way for the remainder of your work week. Temperatures will still be above average on Wednesday, but will drop by around 5 degrees from this afternoon. Valley areas will only top out in the low 80's by Friday, and will continue to cool this weekend. Cloudy skies will return for the weekend, and mountain showers will be possible as early as Saturday evening. Valley areas will top out in the low 70's on Sunday, while mountain areas mostly climb into the low to mid 60's. The potential for showers will return to the valley on Monday, but that chance for showers looks to exit to the East by Tuesday afternoon. I hope everyone has a good way to beat the heat today, is ready for a major cooling trend on the way, and has a great Tuesday!
