Free tickets available for Donald Trump event at USF

Whether you love or hate Donald Trump, University of South Florida students said they feel like the once-unlikely presidential candidate, turned Iowa caucus runner-up, will generate interest when he comes to Tampa.

The Trump campaign is set to stop in Tampa Friday, February 12 night at the USF Sun Dome. Doors will open at 5, with a 7 p.m. start time.

Those planning to attend will have to reserve tickets online. The university says the capacity for the rally is 10,000.

Many attendees are likely to be USF students. They're already talking about the event.

"I do think that USF is one of the more politically active schools around here especially in the Bay area, and so whether or not people are supporters of Trump, I think they'll go and see what it's about," student Saad Chowdhury said.

Many say even if they're not supporting him politically right now, his star power gives them a chance to hear his point of view.

"More than anything, he's become sort of a celebrity again in this sense. So regardless of whether or not people support him they're definitely going to come out and check him out," Chowdhury said.

And they think Trump is wise to take aim at Florida so early on in the primary season.

Although tickets are free, parking costs $20 per car, and it's cash only.
