Cape Coral man charged with 'sextortion' of 2 girls

Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd urges Cape Coral parents to check their children's phones for activity related to a man accused of harassing young girls on the social media app KIK.

Lucas Bales, 25, who lives at 3610 SE 3rd Avenue in Cape Coral, was arrested after investigators said he told at least one girl, who is 11 years old, to send him nude photos or he would do things like post her home address on the Internet and ask people to rape her, or set her house on fire.

Bales was also accused of terrorizing another girl, who is 12-years-old.

An arrest affidavit shows, it all started when the 11-year-old victim told her father about the threats being made on a popular social media app called KIK. The app allows people to communicate with others in nearby locations anonymously.

The girl's father engaged with the man, who went by ".Daddy" online, then contacted the sheriff's office.

In addition to asking for nude photos, ".Daddy" also asked the victim for videos of herself and to provide him with names and addresses of other girls, according to the affidavit.

Polk County Sheriff's Office Computer Crimes detectives identified the second, 12-year-old victim during their investigation. They were able to positively identify the user of the KIK account as Bales, who lived in Cape Coral.

Polk deputies worked with Internet Crimes Against Children partners and Cape Coral police to serve a search warrant at Bales' house February 11. There, they took his cell phone, laptop, desktop computer and Playstation.

The arrest affidavit shows investigators found evidence in the form of threatening messages on those devices. They said additional analysis of those will be performed and could result in more charges.

Bales faces charges of:

- One count of Criminal Use of Child's ID

- One count of Threat/Extortion

- One count of Aggravated Stalking of a Minor

- Eight counts of Written Threats to Kill or Do Bodily Harm

- 10 counts Unlawful Use of Communication Device
