Nekima Levy-Pounds to leave University of St. Thomas

Nekima Levy-Pounds, president of the Minneapolis NAACP chapter, confirmed on social media she is leaving her position at the University of St. Thomas Law School to become an activist full-time.

She told the Star Tribune she wants to spend more time writing and guest lecturing, mostly in Minnesota. She said her last day at the university will be July 31.

Levy-Pounds has been a professor at the university for 13 years. She is also the director of the Community Justice Project, a civil rights legal clinic. She is also known for her involvement with Black Lives Matter.

In a tweet, she thanked people for their support.
