Cal Fire arrests man responsible for four Feather River fires

Cal Fire law enforcement officers arrested a man Monday suspected of setting several wildfires along the Feather River.

Charles Benish was detained after a short vehicle chase. Police said the suspect was armed while he set four separate fires in the Feather River Wildlife Area.

Collectively, the fires burned approximately three acres before being contained and extinguished.

The suspect has been charged with four counts of arson to forestland, being in armed in commission of a felony, one count of evading arrest and one count of drunken driving.

Cal Fire is urging citizens to be alert, and if you see something, say something.
