Man pays entire traffic fine in pennies

Man pays entire traffic fine in pennies

A Texas man wasn't pinching many pennies when he paid off a speeding ticket.

Brett Sanders was ticketed for driving nine miles-per-hour over the speed limit in his Frisco neighborhood.

He took the ticket to court, but lost, and had to pay a $220 fine.

So sanders hammered 22,000 pennies from their rolls, shoveled them into five-gallon buckets and dumped them onto the municipal court counter.

"For me, it's a protest,” he said. “It's more like what's right versus wrong. When my fine came due, I just decided I might as well pay with pennies, and we'll make a big spectacle of it."

Sanders' video went viral on social media, being viewed over 40,000 times and receiving mixed reactions.

The court says he actually overpaid and is now owed $7.81, which sanders said the court can keep.
