Carjacking suspect fatally shot in Riverside County

Carjacking suspect fatally shot in Riverside County

LA QUINTA, Calif. (AP) - The Riverside County Sheriff's Department says a man who stole a car from two women by threatening to shoot them was fatally shot in a standoff with a SWAT team after a lengthy pursuit.

The carjacking occurred Thursday in Jurupa Valley and the pursuit ended more than 80 miles away in La Quinta after a spike strip flattened the car's tires.

Authorities say the suspect refused to surrender and use of a K-9 and bean bag shotgun rounds had no effect before he was shot.

The suspect's name has not been released.
