Video of valley choir singing 'Nae Nae' goes viral

This is real life.

In the spirit of learning while having a good time, choir students at Desert Canyon Middle School in Scottsdale are taking a small break from the classical songs to do something different.

"The song we sang before this at our concert was an aria from the handle opera, so it's really important to me to touch on a variety of genres when teaching my middle school students," choir director Andrea Squires said.

Squires has been in charge for 10 years and it's safe to say "Nae Naeing" is a first.

"Well, she's pretty good moves at the whip, so we all thought that obviously we aren't as good as her, but we can all do it too and we finally convinced her," choir student Kiana Halland said.

The students performed the song last week at one of their concerts and one of the singer's sisters posted part of the performance on Twitter, which then went viral.

"And then it got to our Instagram and Facebook and all these accounts were posting it with millions and millions of followers and it became famous," choir student Andrew Harrington said.

Students say that while the notoriety has been fun, it's also inspiring since other kids have started showing interest in getting involved in music after summer break.

"Some of my friends wish that we were in choir when that happened, so they're joining choir next year, which is really cool," Halland said.

Now after months of work and a school year almost over, they're getting exactly what the song demands.

Millions of eyes on them.
