Snow timeline and estimated totals for the Twin Cities

A quick burst of snow was a factor in more than 30 crashes and spinouts on Twin Cities roads during the 6 a.m. hour Monday. Much of the snow stopped falling around 7 a.m., leaving an inch of snow on the slick highways and city streets. View a live traffic map at fox9.com/traffic.

SNOW TIMELINE - After a brief break, expect another 1 to 2 inches of snow Monday afternoon for a slushy 1 to 3 inches total for the evening commute. Monday night will bring heavier snow at times, with an additional 2 to 4 inches. A Winter Storm Warning is in effect through Tuesday night, with grand totals in the 5 to 7-inch range for Minneapolis-St. Paul by Tuesday evening, and a heavier band of 7 to 10 inches in southwest Minnesota
