Staying HOT For Your Friday But Welcome Changes Are Ahead In Your Forecast

Staying HOT For Your Friday But Welcome Changes Are Ahead In Your Forecast

No big changes are ahead for your Friday, but there is relief from the severe heat ahead for the north state. Temperatures are starting out in the mid 70's to low 80's in the valley this morning, and mountain areas have dipped into the mid 40's to high 50's overnight. Afternoon high temperatures are projected to climb into the 102 to 105 degree range in the valley, and mountain areas will end up in the 89 to 100 degree range later today. Winds will be out of the Northwest to 10mph in the valley, and mountain areas can expect Northeast winds to 10mph. Humidity values will drop into the teens again this afternoon. There is also a slight threat for thunderstorms in the Sierra this afternoon, but that does not look likely. The hot, and dry conditions will continue to leave the north state under elevated fire danger through the weekend.

Temperatures are expected to slowly but surely drop over the next several days, with valley areas topping out in the double digits by Sunday. Low pressure tracking through the Pacific Northwest will leave the north state with an enhanced Delta Breeze, and a modest cooling trend ahead. The sunny and dry conditions are expected to persist through the next week, but temperatures will only top out in the low to mid 90's in the valley by Wednesday! I hope everyone stays safe in the intense heat over the next several days, is cautious with the elevated fire danger in the region, has a fantastic Friday, and a great 4th of July weekend!
