Woman rescued from river after jumping off Oroville bridge

Woman rescued from river after jumping off Oroville bridge

Members of several Butte County agencies perform an early morning rescue after a woman jumped off a bridge in Oroville. According to the Butte County Sheriff's Office, just after 4am Monday, dispatch received a 911 call from a woman in distress walking on a bridge on Table Mountain Boulevard in Oroville. Deputies responded and found the woman sitting on the edge of the bridge. They tried to talk with the woman but she did not respond and eventually went off the edge and fell between 40-50 feet into the river below. Deputies began searching for the woman and found her being rapidly swept down the river, yelling for help. Cal fire was also on the scene as well as Butte County Search and Rescue, and the Butte County Dive Accident Rescue Team. The Butte County Sheriff's helicopter as well as Enloe Flight Care were called to assist in the search. The woman was eventually located by a search boat and taken to shore where she received medical treatment and was then transported to a local hospital. Officials say she was alert and talking when she was taken to the hospital.
