An ice storm, which could be the worst to hit the U.S. in years, is unfolding across portions of the southern Plains late this week.
Sleet and freezing rain will make for slippery conditions from Dallas into Evansville while dangerously cold temperatures persist farther north.
An ice storm will affect millions of people into Friday and threaten to cut power for hundreds of thousands from northern Texas to western Kentucky.
A large portion of the nation will have good weather for the trip home on Sunday, but there will be a few areas dealing with snow, ice, rain and travel delays.
