130 murders in Minnesota in 2015, up 58 percent from 2014

The Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) released a report on Friday including crime data collected from local law enforcement agencies in 2015. Murders in Minnesota were up 58 percent compared to 2014.

There were 130 homicides in the state in 2015, compared to 82 in 2014. The number of rapes also increased significantly, to 2,300 rapes reported in 2015 from 1,980 in 2014.

According to the data, violent crimes including murder, rape, robbery and aggravated assault were up 7.6 percent in 2015.
