The forecast will sound fairly summerlike. A weak disturbance caused showers and thunderstorms in the pre-dawn hours that were especially heavy near the coast. However, as the sea breeze moves inland, the focus for heavy rain will move inland late on Sunday.
Despite record-breaking flooding in parts of the Midwest this year, budget cuts threaten to shut down hundreds of stream gauges across the United States.
Cold temperatures in the Midwest and Northeast will sneak as far southward as northern Georgia to start the week.
