A bicyclist was hit and killed by a DUI driver in the southbound lanes of the Howard Frankland Bridge Wednesday evening, according to FHP.
Florida Highway Patrol's Steve Gaskins tweeted a DUI driver hit a bicyclist and left the scene. The driver was later stopped by troopers at Ulmerton Road and Roosevelt in Pinellas County.
Gaskins said the bicyclist was from New Jersey, but no other information about the driver or bicyclist was available.
FHP first reported the crash on its website, saying traffic was being routed into the emergency lane. FHP dispatchers said it happened near mile marker 36.
