Minneapolis rock band to play show with donated equipment following $33,000 theft

Minneapolis-based rock band Cold Kingdom will return to the stage this weekend one week after theft of their equipment trailer forced them to cancel several Midwest shows.

On Oct. 2, the band reported their trailer containing nearly $34,000 of equipment was cut from its hitch and stolen from where it was parked sometime between 2:30 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. on 34th Ave. N. in Minneapolis. The trailer contained nearly $34,000 worth of equipment, including a including a $15,000 drum set, microphones, equipment casings and some of their merchandise.

In the wake of the theft, Cold Kingdom canceled their shows in Illinois and Wisconsin on Oct. 2 and Oct. 3.
The band announced on their Facebook page they will be playing their scheduled show on Saturday at Busters Sports Bar and Grill in Mankato with borrowed and donated equipment. The band said the proceeds from the show will go towards replacing their stolen gear, as well as the gear of another local band, Pinwheel, that experienced a similar theft.

The band has already raised more than $6,000 through their GoFundMe page, "Cold Kingdom Stolen Gear Fund" to help recoup the costs of the stolen equipment.
