VIDEO: Irish teen's powerful message about cyberbullying goes viral

A 13-year-old from Ireland is standing up to cyberbullies with a Youtube video that is going viral. The video was released in honor of Safer Internet Day, which promotes a more responsible use of online and mobile technology.

The video begins with a normal looking teenager getting a nasty message on social media while walking down the street.

At first, the teenager gets a bloody nose. But as the cyberbullying gets more intense, so do the teen's injuries as he goes from a bloody nose to a black eye to his arm in a sling.

The video is the brainchild, Luke Culhane, who was cyber bullied himself after he started making short films about his life and posting them on Youtube three years ago.

"We're saying that even though its cyberbullying and even though it's virtual it affects real lives," Culhane told Fox 9.

Culhane decided to use the medium to send a message that harassment of any kind is not okay.

"To help other people who are being cyber bullied and kind of raise awareness about the whole 'stop and think before you send a message,' because you might not know you are cyberbullying, but you still are," Culhane said.

Culhane ends the film with the steps teens can take to end to cyberbullying and his hashtag #CreateNoHate, which may as well read "job well done." That hashtag is trending in Ireland and the rest of the world.

"It's cool," Culhane said. "Everyone around the world saw it and it's helped at least one person so that's really cool."

Culhane's video has now been viewed more than 40,000 times.
