FOX 13 Tampa Headlines

1 suspect dead, as many as 4 at large after brutal home invasion

The search is on for several suspects after a deadly home invasion and robbery Wednesday night.

The Manatee County Sheriff's Office says it happened in the 700 block of 64th Avenue East around 10:30 p.m.

They say three people were inside a home when suddenly a group of four or five armed suspects broke in and demanded money.

Some sort of argument went down and then deputies say shots were fired.

They arrived a short time later and found one of the victims and one of the suspects, both with multiple gunshot wounds, in the driveway.

Deputies say the suspect has since died, and the victim is in serious condition at a local hospital.

The other suspects are now at large.

Officials have not yet released their identities, but several evidence markers lined the driveway Thursday morning and they say they are working on leads to track them down.

Investigators ask anyone with information in this case to contact the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.
