Testimony in ISIS trial wrapping up

Testimony is wrapping up in the trial of three men accused of trying to join ISIS.

One of the defendants, Guled Omar, was the last person to take the stand. The timeline of Guled Omar again took center stage Friday.

Prosecutors, started with questions about Ahmed Bashi, a high school friend Omar took to the airport in 2012. Bashi would later die fighting for Al-Shabab in Somalia. Before his departure, Omar pledged allegiance to Bashi.

"I wanted to look cool for my friends," said Omar on the stand.

During cross examination, prosecutors referenced digital and recorded evidence showing Omar viewed ISIS videos and interacted with known terrorists online. In recordings from an FBI informant, prosecutors said Omar can be heard endorsing the violence of one ISIS videos. At one point, he's heard saying he wants to be "a tank killer."

When asked about these recorded conversations Omar said, "Everybody wants to sound tough, everybody wants to sound like he knows more than the next guy."

Omar said despite his tough talk he did not plan to travel to Syria. He went on to say the conversations "had no meaning to me, they were just talk."

Closing arguments are set for Tuesday.
