Warmth is forecast to build over much of the eastern half of the nation by July, with Alaska of all places helping out.
Scattered showers and thunderstorms will drench the southeast this afternoon.
Despite the sunny weekend forecast, the recent influx of thunderstorms in the Northeast region will impact golfing plans for Father's Day weekend.
Gusty, destructive thunderstorms will remain possible over the Midwest, High Plains and coastal Southeast Tuesday afternoon. Wind and hail will be the primary threats, along with heavy rain.
No more severe weather at Merion this weekend, but there could be a brief, pop-up thunderstorm.
