At about 7 a.m. Tuesday morning, St. Paul police approached a group of protesters gathered in front of the Governor's Residence on Summit Avenue and asked them to clear the street and return their demonstration to the sidewalk.
Just after 8:30 a.m., officers gave the group a 15-minute warning to move to the sidewalk. By 10 a.m., police and protesters were still negotiating terms of a continued demonstration. The city has the following demands:
Bring in street sweepers
Photograph and remove graffiti
Reopen Summit Avenue to traffic
No new signs

Summit Avenue had been reopened for about a week until protesters moved back into the street over the weekend. They're demanding the St. Anthony police officer who shot Philando Castile be treated just like any other murder suspect and be booked into jail.
A core group of protesters has never left the governor's mansion since the July 6 shooting.
