Local State of Emergency declared in Colusa County

Colusa County Sheriff Joe Garofalo has declared a local State of Emergency because of flooding in Maxwell, Williams, Princeton and Grimes.
    Maxwell is hardest hit.
Flood waters receded enough for residents to return home Sunday, after being evacuated Saturday.
Office of Emergency Services officials say the flooding is caused by heavy rain overwhelming creeks and canals.
They had five emergency strike teams prepared for more problems overnight Sunday.
Highway 20 remained closed, with Interstate 5 down to just one lane in each direction through the Williams area because of water on the road.
No matter where you plan to travel in the next few days you are encouraged to check road conditions ahead of time, and to heed road closure signs.
