Santos fire grows to 101 acres, 25 percent contained

9:00 p.m. update:  The Santos Fire, burning above Upper Bidwell Park east of Chico has grown to 101 acres but the activity is winding down with containment at 25 percent.  One-way controlled traffic continues on Highway 32.  No structures have burned and none are currently threatened.  The cause of the fire is under investigation.

 

Update: Highway 32 has reopened to one way controlled traffic.

The Santos Fire, burning east of Chico, has grown to just more than 25 acres.

Park Rangers have mandatory evacuation of parts of Upper Bidwell Park, east of Horseshoe Lake.

Evacuation warning only are in effect from Santos Road to Crown Point and Little Chico Drainage to Highway 32.

A grass fire is burning on Highway 32 east of Chico right now at Santos Ranch road in the Forest Ranch area.

Butte County Cal Fire responded to a report of the vegetation fire around 3:30 this afternoon.

The fire is 18 acres and growing in a woodland area. No structures are reported to be threatened.

Cal Fire has closed sections of Highway 32 to give firefighters room to fight the fire.
