Tehama County judge denies motions in Bealer case

Tehama County judge denies motions in Bealer case

The Red Bluff man accused of fatally strangling a 14-year-old girl in 2013 testified before a Tehama County judge Friday as his attorney demanded the district attorney hand over all of its evidence while also asking the court to suppress other evidence.

Quinten Bealer spent about an hour in the witness chair testifying and answering questions. He argued that he was so heavily under the influence of drugs that he could not have possibly consented to medical testing after he turned himself in to authorities. He also complained that he was mistreated when he was first detained.

Bealer is accused of murdering Marysa Nichols of Red Bluff in February 2013.  Her body was found in a creek bed next to her high school campus two days after her family reported her missing.

In the end, the judge denied the defense's motions to compel discover and suppress evidence which the prosecution is using against Bealer.

Court proceedings are expected to move to Sacramento county court for a pre-trial conference on September 15th.
