VIDEO: Bus aide punches 10-year-old Brooklyn Park, Minn. student

A bus aide for Metropolitan Transportation Network in Fridley lost her job after punching a student several times in the face during a scuffle. Newly-released video shows exactly what happened during that altercation.

The video begins at 4:45 on April 19 with Maleek Toins in the first row behind the bus driver. A few seconds in, someone in the back of the bus throws a pencil hitting bus assistant Laura Bunting in the back of the head before landing in the aisle.

At first, Bunting tries to get the pencil from the boy who grabbed it from the floor but she doesn't have any luck.
When Bunting goes to the back of the bus, you can clearly see the boy holding up the pencil as she tries to find out who threw it. Bunting eventually leans over Maleek to grab the pencil from the floor at his feet but gets upset because he is laughing at her.

At first she gets in Maleek's face and when he tries to get her to back off, the two exchange pushes and it quickly escalates into a shoving match, but Bunting loses control, grabbing Maleek by the neck and falling on top of him, punching him several times in the face.

It isn't until the bus driver pulls over and pulls Bunting off Maleek that the scuffle ends but not before Bunting tries to go after Maleek again.

"Appalled. Furious at first. I really didn't understand too much the aggressiveness she showed in the video," said Maleek's father Kenneth Toins.

Toins says its hard to watch an adult, at least twice his son's size and four times his age, use violence to express her anger and frustration, but the video backs up Maleek's version of events.

"It was a relief after trying to get the story from your 10-year-old, who can't quite remember all the details of the incident. So after seeing the video, it was ok. He was telling the truth,"' said Toins.

Even Bunting lost her job as a result of the incident, Toins says Maleek will remember what happened on the bus for the rest of his life.

"Lets not let this happen to any other kids. Lets not let you work around kids," said Toins.
Toins says Maleek suffered a concussion and still has headaches from the scuffle but he has returned to school at Athlos Leadership Academy.

Bunting is charged with 3 misdemeanors including fifth-degree assault and disorderly conduct. She'll make her first court appearance on June 2.
