Travis County Assistant District Attorney arrested for DWI

Travis County Assistant District Attorney Erika Hansen was arrested by Austin Police for DWI late Sunday morning.

According to court paperwork, Hansen crashed her Hyundai sedan into a parked car on the 1200 block of E. 7th St. just before 1 A.M.

According to police, a witness told them Hansen was revving the engine and appeared to try leaving the scene. When police arrived, they found Hansen sitting in the driver's seat with the engine still on.

Police said Hansen told them she had drank two pints of beer from 9 P.M. to 11 P.M. and was traveling between 25 and 35 M.P.H. when she became distracted and then struck the car.

According to police, Hansen failed a sobriety test and had a .19 blood-alcohol level.

The Travis County District Attorneys Office said Hansen has been a prosecutor since March 2015 and they are currently reviewing the case. Hansen has not been placed on a leave of absence.

Hansen was booked into the Travis County Jail at 10:45 A.M. Sunday. Her bail was set at $3,000.

This is a developing story and we will bring you more details as they become available.
